The Auckland Grand central station
This amazing piece of architecture was built in 1930 to provide a gateway for visitors to see New Zealand via rail till the early 1980s now used as serviced apartment living for students and visitors to Auckland.
To me this place represents the elegance of the past, with its beautiful high windows, brick walls and granite floors, it was built to emulate the American railway stations of the 20th century.
Inside of the building looks amazing with the walls and amazing floor to ceiling design keeping to the original 1930s look with the rounded high archways of the main entrance and those amazing high windows which when the afternoon light hits those windows they give the place a airy feeling a site into its grand and life of yesturday.
Entering the station through the doors under the clock you have to pass the offices where you would book your tickets this then leads into the main waiting point for the trains this place shows real history of the place with the stair cases at either end of the room, the old seats and the checkered floors.
Beautiful, elegant and graceful my kind of architecture
